Science and Society

Description

This contextualized course studies contemporary topics in science, including but not limited to science policy, historical science, biotechnology, medical or research science. Students will develop research skills and review science literature. Readings and discussions based on original literature will offer students the opportunity to build research skills while studying new subject matter in depth. The course will emphasize effective communication and collaborative practices of the discipline, including peer feedback, review and debate. Students will explore modern research techniques while learning responsible conduct of research and bioethics. Students should consult course overview for current offerings. Topics vary and reflect the special interests of students and faculty. A term report, presentation or examination may be required.
