Information Technology (IT)

By logging into any Guttman computer, you are agreeing to adhere to the CUNY Policy on Acceptable Use of Digital Assets and Resources. You are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the policy prior to accessing Guttman’s network for the first time.

IT Helpdesk

The helpdesk can be reached by phone at 646-313-8008, or via email at helpdesk@guttman.cuny.edu. Please call or email the helpdesk for the most rapid response to your issue.

The helpdesk hours vary throughout the year and are based on the academic calendar, but IT can always be reached via email.

M365 Account

CUNY provides all students with a Microsoft 365 (M365) account which provides access to file storage, e-mail, and the entire suite of Microsoft products. See here to find out exactly what is included.

You claim your M365 account using Guttman’s MyID system. If you have not set up your M365 account already, we will assist you during the New Student Orientation. You will need to use your CUNY@login credential (see below) to activate your M365 account. Your M365 account can be used to access the entire suite of M365 including:

  • Email

  • OneDrive (file storage)

  • MS Office Software (Word, Excel, etc.)

You can access your student e-mail using your M365 account by launching Outlook from https://www.office.com.

MyID

MyID is a Guttman system that can be accessed with your CUNY@login credential and enables you to claim your M365 account and display your Virtual ID.

Student Email Accounts

Once you claim your M365 account, you will have an email address that follows the format of firstname.lastname##@guttmanmail.cuny.edu. All official notifications and communications are sent to your Guttman email address, and it is the required mode of e-communication. As the owner of the account, you are responsible for its proper use and protection.

You are responsible for checking and reading official Guttman communications sent to your email address regularly. Your Guttman email account can be accessed by launching Outlook from office.com.

Student File Storage (OneDrive)

You have access to online file storage via Microsoft’s OneDrive. This service is accessed via M365 by choosing “OneDrive” from the selection of applications on the top left of the website (office.com).

Student CUNY Account

The student account used to access most resources on campus is the CUNY@login credential. This account takes the form of firstname.lastname##@login.cuny.edu. You should have received an email 24-48 hours after submitting your application to claim your account. This account is the one you used to register for classes. Use this CUNY@login credential to access the following resources:

  • CUNYfirst – Student information system

  • Brightspace - CUNY's Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Navigate360 – Collaborative network for student success and communication

  • Wi-Fi access through the Edu-Roam network

  • Many more

CUNYfirst

CUNYfirst stands for City University of New York Fully Integrated Resources and Services Tool. This tool provides electronic access to student records including transcripts, financial aid documents, etc. Use your CUNY@login credential to access CUNYfirst. You can find your EMPL Identification Number (EMPLID) in CUNYfirst and this number will be used throughout your time at CUNY.

Brightspace

Brightspace is the CUNY-wide learning management system that may be used to deliver course content to you. Use your CUNY@login credential to access Brightspace.

Navigate360

Navigate360 is a collaborative network for student success to facilitate communication between you and faculty and staff. Use your CUNY@login credential to access Navigate360.

Wi-Fi

Guttman offers free wireless networking through the Edu-Roam network. Access to the network requires authorization which can be completed by providing the CUNY@login credentials. You can receive help connecting to and troubleshooting the wireless connection by contacting the helpdesk.

Computer Labs

The primary computer lab area is at the library's rear. Laptops are available for on-campus use and can be checked out at the circulation desk in the library.

Printing Policies

Your Guttman ID card is used to print from a computer and make photocopies on campus. You receive an allocation of $15.00 per semester for printing/photocopying. There are two multi-purpose copy machines available for your use on campus located in the library. You can print from any Guttman-wired computer or wirelessly from a Guttman laptop on campus. Charges will apply based on the number of copies being made.
