Description
This course introduces the terminology and issues commonly encountered when addressing the diverse needs of students with disabilities. Special Education is the designation within school systems that describes the educational setting and pedagogical practices designed to meet the needs of students designated with a disability. This course will provide broad background knowledge about students with disabilities and strategies for creating access to the generaleducation curriculum. The historical and sociological treatment of people with disabilities, special education law and programs, and building classroom communities that support the full diversity of learners will be addressed.
